1. In order to be able to put a number or statistic in a story, you must verify with the primary source to be able to put it in your story.
2. To include a partial quote in a story, you must find the context it was used in and explain the context when using the quote.
3. Fact checking and accuracy are important to Journalism because if you’re not writing facts, then you’re not writing news.

1. Go to the source and make sure that the statistic or number is correct and from a reliable source.
2. Check for the FULL quote because it can be misleading and mean something else than what the partial quote seems to mean.
3. Fact checking and attribution is important to journalists because one little mistake can mean something to a reader. They cant have misleading information because their readers are counting on them to give them the facts.

If you read a number or statistic quoted in another story, you should either attribute that statistic to the source, or find your own primary source.
If you read a partial quote in another story, it is always better to track down the speaker of the quote.
Fact checking is important because it allows a reporter or organization to maintain its reliability.

If you see a statistic, number, or quote in another news story, it is extremly important to put the direct link that it came from. If not that, then you should go the primary source in order to dirrectly quote them. You need to do this in order to follow the information to see if what you’re quoting is really true. This is important in today’s society because any mistake can start rumors. There can be slander involved due to the carelessness of reporters. I mean, looking up the information and getting it directly is definately not hard these days, especially due to the internet.

1) If you read a number or statistic quoted in another story, you need to cite your source and verify with the primary source.
2) If you read a partial quote in another story, you need to cite when and where you found it as well as who said it and when they said it.
3) Fact checking and attribution important to journalists because, even though it may not be important to a majority of readers, it is important to at least one and it is important that you do not convey a different meaning behind a speaker’s quote because you can get in major trouble.

If you read a number or statistic quoted in another story or read a partial quote that you read in another story and wish to use in your own story, you should always track down the primary source that the fact, quote, or statistic came from and go from there. Fact checking and attribution are important because if something is misworded or the person who said it was misquoted, the meaning of the statement could be completely different from what it was supposed to mean.

2. The journalist must fact-check it. If the fact is not available online, it is vital to speak to the person who gave the fact to make sure it is accurate/updated.
3. If the quote is not available on a website, it is important to speak to the person directly to ensure that the quote is used in the correct context.
4. If the journalist does not have accurate quotes or facts, and someone realizes it, their stories will not be printed. This journalist’s writing will not be reliable.

In order to use numbers or statistics quoted in another story, journalists should attempt to find the information from its source, rather than just take it from the article. The same applies for partial quotes.
Fact checking and attribution are important for journalists because, among other things, people read newspapers for accurate information. Unfortunately, it is common for journalists to find inaccurate information. For instance, quotes taken out of context can have altered meanings, statistics can be misrepresented, etc. Fact checking and attribution help eliminate this risk.

If i want to include a number or statistic quted in another story what i need to do is attribute it ccorrectly. I should say where i obtained the information and in what news paper it was said. Also, you must contact the primary source of the person who said it. The same would go if i wanted to inlcude a paprtial quote from another story. Fact checking and attribution are important in journalism in order to give it validity. Also, no one wants information that is false on the school’s paper.

If you read a number or statistic quoted in another story, you need to include the direct link to the exact page, not just the main domain.
If you read a partial quote in another story, you need to contact the primary source, and you should also find the complete quote of what the person really said.
Fact checking and attribution is important to journalists because, you could be quoting something that is not ture at all due to the fact that you got the information form someone or something else.

1) make sure your numbers are right, and come from a known, reliable source
2) try to find the person who was quoted, but if you cant, make sure it is correct, and state the source
3) its important because in journalism, only FACTS should be stated and mentioned so you dont give wrong info

It is important for journalists to use attributions and fact checking because they need to make sure the article and information they are gathering is plausible. They can’t deliver the wrong news to their readers. It will cause too much commotion and confusion. If you read a number or a statistic included in another story and you want to use it in your story, you have to make sure you cite where you got it from. If you read a partial quote in another story and you want to include it in your story, you either have to cite where you got it or you’re not allowed to use it.

1) You can gather the same information from the primary source rather than trusting the original story. Because of the internet nowadays, it is easier to contact the primary source.
2) When you include a partial quote, you have to include the context that it came in.
3) Fact checking and attributions are important because the reader relies on the accuracy of your information and, as a journalist, you must make sure to be a reliable source for the reader. For example, if you give out misinformation, you must make sure to own up to the mistake and correct it.

2. You need to retell the statement in the same words and contexts as the person said.
3. You need to verify with the quoter. Also include the URL the information came from.
4. It is important because you can be giving false information. It may not affect you that much, but it can really hurt the person you are talking about or quoting if the information is not legitimate.

It is important to check your facts and attribute them correctly because if a journalist doesnt do that then their articles are no longer credible and they lose their credibility as a true writer who gets their information from correct sources. Also, if a journalism doesnt do this they arent doing their job correctly in providing the readers with accurate information. If you find a partial quote in an article and you want to use it in your own story you have to include the context that it came in, in order to include it in your own story. If you find a number or statistic quoted in another story and you want to include it in your own story, it is best to find out the primary source where they got this piece of information.

If you read a number or statistic in an article, you need to make sure it is true befor you can insert it into your article. If you want to use a quote from another article, you need permission from the source of the quote. Fact checking and attribution is important because a journalist wants to always make sure they have correct information. If they attribute accurately, it is not their fault if a statistic is wrong.
carmenk2012 // February 23, 2009 at 6:19 pm |
If you read a number or statistic in another story, you should try to find the primary souce. If that does not work out, you need to cite the reference from where you got this number or statistic from.
If you read a partial quote in another story, you need to make sure to retell that quote in the same context as the speaker said it.
Fact checking and attribution are important because not checking your facts or attributing could cause the spread of false information.
biancac2010 // February 23, 2009 at 6:20 pm |
If you read a number or statistic quoted in another article and want to include it in your story you should include the source or person that you got the information from. You can not reprint a partial quote without proper overseeing. Printing information you know is wrong is a serious action however printing information that has been attributed correctly but ends up being wrong is not so much the authors fault.
