Final Movie Day (Ever)

October 8, 2008 · 15 Comments

Please Do Now:

  1. This month’s center spread is going to be Miami Beach: Candyland, a review of all the best and worst places to go and things to do on Halloween.
  2. Comment back to this post with AT LEAST one positive and one negative review.  Say where the house (or event is), what is is all about, and why is is great (or horrible).
  3. Example:  Old Man Jones on Harding Ave in North beach is notorious for giving kids pennies for trick or treat.  Stop by this year to watch the toilet paper gather in his trees.
  4. Example:  Saw V opens tonight at the Regal Cinema at 8:00 PM.  An ideal date movie if you’re into blood and guts.  Don’t miss the drag queens on Lincoln Rd.

Today, students will:

  1. Finish All the President’s Men

Tonight’s homework is:

  1. Update your BEAT SHEET.  Find out what’s going on with your club and post the update to your blog.  Due Monday.

Nightmare Ghost Stories, on NW First Avenue, is a great place to get spooked if you don’t mind leaving the beach. Prepare yourselves for seventeen different horrors in this haunted house!

Haunted House on Post Avenue and 45th street has a reputation for their flashing lights and creepy set up but gives a load full of candy. Prepare yourself for a trick and a treat.

On 12265 SW 112 St there is a 21 room haunted house that has been going on for two years now, various costume contests, and there will be horror movies being shown. This combination of scary or so called entertaining activities is a perfect way to spend your halloween night for someone who is up for fun.

25th street, Brick Ave. at the Levy residence is best known for giving unlimited amount of candy and the best tasting candy, also with cool rappers for trick and treat. They give out toys too! Don’t turn down this great opportunity for the best candy and toys and make sure to be prepared with huge bags.

Horror Nights at Universal Studios, Orlando during the months of October and November, any night, its your choice! An ideal way to spend the night with haunted houses, entertainment, food and many other things if your into the scary costumes and men chasing you around with chainsaws. An intense event that will bring you a lot of fear. AHH, bloody mary… Don’t miss it, it’s only once every year!

    1. On Lakeview Drive there knife that is stabbed in into the sidewalk, don’t skip over this house! This house provides a treat you can keep! Although they don’t give sweet candy, they always give out silver dollars!

    2. If you are thinking of a place to go on the beach, do not go to North Bay Road. None of the owners are home and they don’t even leave candy on their doorstep! Going there is just a waste of time.

There is a house with asmuch candy as you can hold on 25th street, Brick Ave. and this is no ordinary spot. As one of my classmates has said. there is as much candy as your bag can hold. Not only that they also give out toys! This is defentatly a spot you want to hit

Lincoln Road–always crazy costumes and half naken people running around drunk.

    - Houses on Alton road usually have the most candy, because very few people go trick or treating there.
    – Trick or Treating on North Bay Road is also very good, because people usually leave to go trick or treating other places, and therefore leave out huge buckets of candy for trick or treaters to come and take.
    – The Castle House on North Bay Road is a bad place to go trick or treating because they don’t give out candy and it is extremely spooky to begin with.
    – Trick or Treating in the Lake View area, although a very popular place to go trick or treating, is not the best place to go trick or treating, because so many people go there that the houses run out of candy sooner.

-Lincoln Road is a great place to stop by if you are looking for dinner and excitement. Many random acts include mimes, impersionations, weaving and more.

-Just because Sunset Island One is not a popular place to go, there are plenty of houses with candy that has not been taken. Stop by. Just stay away from houses with no light and or no decorations!

    - Lakeview Drive is packed with friendly homeowners giving away money, cookies, giant candy bars, and icees. Don’t be afraid to ask for a cup of water either, just don’t wander inside anyone’s home. Always stay safe no matter where you are. Keep your eyes open for firetrucks or police cars. They usually hand out gum.

    - Stay away from houses that don’t need decorations to be creepy. Chances are they won’t give you candy and will yell at you for bothering them.

Prairie Avenue rarely has candy. I do not recommend it.

I highly recommend Bay Point (on Biscayne) and Sunset Islands. There are swarms of people here and if you want to have a good time with some friends, this is an ideal place to have a lot of fun. Otherwise, if you are just looking for some candy and a relaxed time, Alton road is a good place.

    - Do go to Lincoln Road for candy and other events happening that day.

-The Haunting of Molly Hartley Opens on Halloween Day at Regal Movie. A great scary, thriller on halloween day.

-Stay away from houses on Normandy Village that have their lights out and no decorations, even if you see that their are cars in the driveway. THey won’t give you candy and maybe give you the look.

The houses north of 41st between Sheridan and Chase are perfect if you’re in it for a little real halloween spirit. Expect spooky haunted houses, tasty treats, and some wild costumes.

    - Look for the house with the model boat on Sheridan Ave., north of 45th street. In the past, they’ve given out cotton candy!
    - Don’t pass over the spooky-looking house on the corner of Royal Palm Ave. and 45th street. On top of the awesome decorations, they usually give out whole goody-bags of candy to tricker-treaters.
    - It’s tough to find houses with candy on most of of Prairie Ave. My suggestion: Don’t even bother.

just some thoughts: Lincoln road (as others have mentioned) is a good place for socializing and seeing rather unusual costumes, but has no candy. also (as Kevin said) prairie avenue has absolutely no candy. also, if you’re going for costumes, I recommend Ricky’s on Lincoln road. around this time of year, they have some pretty good costumes.
