Mr. Weiss – Journalism I – Faculty Adviser

Substitute Lesson Plan

February 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hi guys,

Today your first drafts are due.  I trust that you brought in paper copies as well as posted them to your blogs.

I want you to spend the first half of the period in groups of 3-4 peer editing each other’s work.  Pay special attention to things like objectivity and neutrality – what additional voices are missing from the story?  This is your chance to correct your trajectory if you are blowing off course.  Language can always be cleaned up later, but we can’t re-report your story at the last minute.

Also focus on leads, use of quotes, and story structure.

For the second half of the period, you may conduct interviews and begin working on your final drafts at the computer.

Place your most current draft in the your folder in my tackle-box.  Your editors will check what you have posted over the weekend and will review your paper drafts on Monday.

Have a great weekend! – Mr. Weiss
