Today, students will:
- If you are going on the Hall of Fame field trip next Friday, read the following short biographies of this year’s inductees: Barry Katzen, MD, Debra Zane, Guy Stofman, Irving Heller, Judge David Gertsen, Stanley Whitman, Zelda Glazer
- Prepare an Interview Planner for each person so you can ask intelligent questions during the Q & A session.
- Prepare a News Planner and write a sample news lead for a story you might write on the Alumni Hall of Fame induction.
- If you are not going on the Hall of Fame field trip, do the following:
- SPORTS, OPINION, FEATURES: Work on handouts 1/2 and begin story assignments.
- NEWS, A & E: Begin news stories / reviews

i think that the newspaper is well made, the titles catch your attention and the fact that it is by the students for the students makes it cool…yeah… one thing i dont like is how the only colors used are red…black…and the paper…but i guess color paper for the whole school might be expensive so its ok

THREE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THE NEWSPAPER:

Things that you guys need to improve in is,One: I heard a lot of people in my class asking for comic strips.
Second:Is the fact that I didn’t see other students article in the newspaper.
Third:is talking about the fcat, nobody wants to hear about it right now we just started school.

3 Things the paper can improve
1) Students in Journalism II give us the chance to improve our article. Explain to us our mistakes instead of just changing it. To me it is not fair and it doesn’t seem like our work.
2) Get more quotes and background information.
3) More variety in topics
4) More communication between Journalism 1 and 2
5)More pictures!

I LOVE MY ARTICLE!
as well as the “Hamster Heist” piece and the professional look of the paper and its layout.
Improvement-wise; we should definitely have more compelling stories, more use of pictures, and we should provide a better insight to the students at the school.

LOVE :
I really enjoyed the hamster heist article!
it managed to keep me interested and it was pretty fuuny
I also really really really like the Dear Harry column in the newspaper , its the first thing i look for in the newspaper!
I also like the athlete of the month column because it highlights people’s achievements in sports which they clearly deserve
AND, i like the article on darren richmond
DISLIKE:
I LIKEEEEE EVERYTHING!
BUT,
The editorial on Britney Spears was completely irrelevant and unneccesary , I feel as though it had no relation to the students and what does britney have to do with us? we get enough of her antics in magazines but it is uneccesary in a school newspaper , the article however was well written

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVED (!!!)…
1. The editorial. Alex, if you’re reading this, you did an amazing job. SOO funny and well written!
2. The layout. It was very well organized and looked very professional.
3. The pictures, starfish (!!), drawings (!!) , surveys, etc.
Oh yeah.. and the TanV Ad.
And Weissy’s picture.
And the “News Around the World”.
AND…. All that good stuff
I did not like (Kind of)….
1. The TWO (!!!) pages of MRSA/Staph prevention

I loved:
1- The Dear Harry column
2- The polls…i love to see what our classmate’s opinions are.
3- The Arts section (reviews)
4- The Tanning Ad…its very informative
5- The pictures in the back and the fact that people can email captions for a picture.
6- the little drawing m,ade by Mr. Weiss

1- More pictures/comic strips (that are funny)

– The lenght of the articles, I was excited to read them but when the people in my classes saw the length they skipped a lot of them.

i like the ask harry advice column,
the article about the staph and construction were good.
we had good pictures.
i didnt like some of the other stories, they were a little boring.
i think we should include more of the horoscopes not only on the website.
the movie review was great but i think that the cd review was a little too opinionated.

Things that I loved:
)
- The review section was very interesting, and appealing to the public. Maybe next time, instead of only having one movie reviewed, cover two.
- I really, really liked the online poll results. it was very cool and definately think that it should be inserted in every newspaper.
- The opinion section is great and I really enjoyed reading all the articles (especially Britney Blackout
Things that I feel need some improvement:
- The Beach Culture needs some more articles about fun things around school. Altough the ones that are there awesome I think we need some more.
-The centerspread wasn’t the best. I think that if one page was alloted to the MRSA infection, that would have been sufice.
-Some more opinions would have been awesome.
