Miami New times Paragraph (how the page is organized)
The first thing I noticed was that the Page is made up into different parts. (News, Blogs, Promotions and so on….). The Article they have up first is the Ramadi Madness in
the category Featured News. Then they have some very good Daily New Times
articles for example Castro is dead or not? What I think is a great Idea that we
could use for our page is, we could also include pictures a calendar and a search engine .
Another thing to do is we must make it colorful or we wont have much visitors.

The website organizes its articles and features by media type and interest, separating the music news from the sports news and so on. I’m seeing articles that relate to those that it is grouped with and those that catch the eye of the viewer. The eye-catching design and intriguing headers could be easily put in our own newspaper to increase reader interest. The simple, yet effective navigation system could be used in both our newspaper and website. E can safely omit the restaurants section, seeing as high school students might not care about which expensive restaurants are opening where. We could use the music section to attract readers to the newspaper, they might actually find something that they like.

Miami new times
The Miami new times website is organized in the following fashion. From the top left down it starts with a small featured stories box with 4 links taking you to different articles. The next box is a daily new times which has current events that show the date and time of occurrence (ranges from 8/23-8/27) then comes a news and columns which includes the featured stories and some other stories. After tat comes a music area with a bunch of CD reviews and things going on with some artist. Following that are some restaurants with different cuisines and foods, a movie box with a now playing list and a few reviews, arts and entertainment, and that’s all I was able to cover.

Miami New Times
The Miami New Times has a very eye catching organization technique, with the way that the website is organized you can tell that they know how to grab your attention from the very beginning and for something such as a newspaper or website that is supposed to appeal to the consumer that is a priority. What first caught my eye was the featured stories section and following was the calendar which I think are both incredibly clever ideas. I also like how they give you a sneak peak on all their different sections including arts, music, movies and national features. I really like this idea for an outline for the Beachcomber front page because it grabs your attention and it manages to keep you interested. In our case our featured stories will probably almost always have to do with school related issues such as sports, construction, student clubs and so on for which we could easily use the “sneak-peak” technique .

The Miami New Times website is a very interesting website.Whether it be about the war in Iraq or about the opening of a new club The New Times website has a lot going on. However, the website is very organized. It is organized by Featured stories on the top left hand side, Daily new times which has slideshows and blogs. News and columns which has information about world issues. Music which is self explanatory, as well as reviews of the latest movies and resteraunts. This website shows how we can attract readers by balancing flashy and exaggerated articles with serious and informative ones. The featured stories as well as the movie review sections could be transferred to our school newspaper. The club advertisements just wont work.

The Miami new times website has a lot going on and it’s pretty easy to find whatever you’re looking for. The new times website has a great set up, everything is under a title and there are even some scroll boxes to help you find what you are specifically looking for. I think the scroll box idea is a great thing for our website because if we were to do some reviews on new CDs we could put the artist in a scroll box so it doesn’t take up so much room on the front page. I like how everything is in its own box or category and in that category everything gets a little more specific.

As soon as you open the website there are so many things that catch your eye. That is what a newspaper should do. This website is organized into section according to what the article is about, such as music, daily news, or world news. The website can serve as an example of how to actually catch peoples attention. Since it is a newspaper we have to find a way to catch the students attention, we can come up with interesting headlines or amazing pictures that will make you want to read more. The sections that transfer well into our own community might be the daily news. Some that may be irrelevant are the music or entertainment sections.

The website is organized in somewhat an organized manner. It has advertisents for other websites and links to those other sites. They have dates and calendars for events in Miami. There is a music section with c.d. reviews . Basically everything such as art and events has its own cool section. We can use these structures on our website to make it pop. Not only does the new times have organization but it also has photography that catches the eye. Somewhat of a hook. That’s what we need a hook.
stephanieo2011 // August 27, 2007 at 5:22 pm |
The website shows the featured articles along with a comic or animated picture. We should use something like this because it attracts attention. They also have a movies section with reviews and a section for arts and entertainment. Miami new times also has slide shows and photo galleries. These sections would be more relevent to our school newspaper, while sections like restaurants wouldnt.
emmanuelleh2010 // August 27, 2007 at 5:22 pm |
the website is very detailed and gives alot of information such as daily news, featured stories, music, photo gallery, restaurants, movies and arts and entertainment, i think this would be a good idea to put some of these ideas in our news paper. this is a very intriguing website which has a lot of varieties of subjects in 1 website sounds cool right.
arielaz2009 // August 27, 2007 at 5:23 pm |
The Miami New Times website is organized by headers entitled “News, Blogs, Restuarants, Entertainment, Music, Movies, Best Of, Classified, Search, Promotions, AD Index”. The featured stores are what the readers see first, the calendar of events is front and center, and everything else has its own section with its’ top headlines. We, the Beachcomber editors, should also use this form of organization and feature an preview of each section on the home page.
joselynm2009 // August 27, 2007 at 5:27 pm |
The Miami New Times has a variety of different sections organized so that it’s as easy as possible to use. Using a similar type of organization would make our site seem much more professional. The calendar, music, club, and movie search at the top of the page is very useful for students who are sure when things are going on. The arts and entertainment, music, news and column sections are some thing we could use on the school website as well. The restaurant section would be a waste to our website. We could however change it into a school good instead of restaurants. Slideshows are a great idea to show things going on at school.

This website is organized by different sections of interest. It seems to have sections similar to a newspaper such as Features, Music, News, Restaurants and Arts & Entertainment. This webpage has a lot of similarities with our student newspaper. I believe that the Music section would work well in our paper because mostly every person our age listens to it, thus making it relevant. Restaurants would be a different to produce because our student like in different places in the city, so everyone would like a different restaurant.

This website is called The Miami New Times. This site is organized by different sections, it has different sections where you can click on them like news.blog, ect.
Then it has the featured stories and on the bottom the Daily New Times, another section of News & Columns.
After that comes Music, Restaurants, Movies and last Movies & Entretainent. This website has a Photo Gallery, which has cool
images that can catch the readers eye. I see many articles about news. And many of entertaiment. Like about music and clubs.
We can use many things as an example for our page, like adding slideshows of pictures, recent news that affect us, and having a section only for classified would be a good idea because, it may be useful for student that can be looking for jobs or tryng to sell something And having music related articles would work really good for our site since everyone loves music. And we can put funny or not boring tittles so we can atrract the article.

Due to the constant flooding nearby school district officials are having a swale built , which will take about 4 months, around Miami Beach Senior High to stop the flooding.

The Miami New Times website is filled with different secitons; 11 of them to be exact. Some of the different types of articles that are shown on the webpage include news, restaurants, entertainment, music, and movie reviews. This website would be an excellent model for our own Beachcomber website for several different reasons. They have each section organized as a tab, and under these tabs are the sub-categories shown as links. In addition, we should add pictures to our website like they do. Furthermore, by putting funny titles to articles we will be able to grab the public’s eye.The sections dealing with news and entertainment affect our community the most, thus they are articles about our community. One of the hardest sections to reproduce on our website would be “restaurants” because it does not affect our school directly.
alessiap2011 // August 27, 2007 at 5:36 pm |
The Miami New Times website is organized very neatly and functionally. The first thing that caught my attention was the section entitled “Featured Stories”. With a very funny cartoon drawing for each story, I immediately was interested. There were four stories each ranging on a wide variety of topics. On the upper left hand corner there was the Miami New Times logo in bright green and an ad just on the left; talk about great location. You can see news, blogs, restaurants, entertainment, music, movies and classified sections (just to name a few) by an easy click of your mouse. Plus you can search any old archives for your records. A calendar of events and daily new times are just a scroll away. The Most Viewed section is also very helpful. And what type of website would it be without the most loved photo gallery? With a simple picture and one sentence comment, you are able to easily know what is going on and associate news, with its rightful companion, the picture.
We can use this website to model our website very easily. There are many places for ads so that our income is very large on that part. Movie reviews and national features will also be big hits for the student audience. There are happenings in South Florida and world news that can be used in classrooms. Although it would be very hard for a school newspaper team to get an inside look on the war on Iraq and it would be difficult to reproduce a counterterrorism article, there are many different things that we could learn from and we absolutely should.

The Miami News website is organized by different categories. Just like a newspaper has different sections, this website has different sections as well. It is categorized by the following: Featured Stories, Daily New Times, News & Columns, Slideshows, Music, Restaurants, Movies, etc. Each different article belongs to a different section, making it easier to find a desired article. It also has different ads with links to other pages. As for our own newspaper, we can model the different sections; and also the ads, which will consequently generate money that we can utilize for the printing of our monthly newspaper. We could definitely reproduce the following sections: Music, Movies, Restaurants, Pictures (of anything that might be going on at school), & the To-Do List (in Miami or in school). Other sections involving news in Florida (not pertaining to young adults), would probably be irrelevant to our MBSH students.

This webiste is organized in a collouge form. It has it’s fields and information. I also see a lot of pictures! There are different types of articles for example, music, news, clubs etc. This website seems very appealing and interesting. It has a lot of color pictures and unique articles. even though it looks simple you can tell people worked hard on this website. The section of reviews, music, restaurants, movies, calendar ads, and school related should be on our website. However what is irrelevant should be news worlwide; if it dosen’t affect our school then it should not be in our school website. For example, things around the world.
Jimmy Fernandez // August 27, 2007 at 5:39 pm |
This website has categorized button-like links on top from different topics. The first sections of the page located mostly on the top are news that people will be mostly concerned about such as different featured stories and daily local news. Then it usually combines with world news and the last parts have sections featuring movies, music, and other entertainment. This website can be an excellent example of how our school’s web page should be modeled because we can put more important news about our school first because they are easier to produce and within our range and then place news that seem more trivial, but that they still affect our school and our community on further section of the newspaper.

The Miami New Times
The website is organized to leave no blank space in between articles. There are pictures to grab the reader’s attention just in case the words don’t capture their eye. Some topics covered on this website are News, Music, Restaurants, Features, Movies, Arts and Entertainment. We could use this as model for our school newspaper because they seem to have knowledge on their subjects. The writers are not using regular, boring words they are using words that might get the reader thinking “Oh… what is this article about?”.
The pictures tell the story. Don’t reproduce the restaurants but instead put the cafeteria’s menu.
jessenian2011 // August 27, 2007 at 5:58 pm |
This web site is organized by the different categories. The different types of articles that I see are about restaurants, movies, music, news and columns, arts and entertainment, the daily news, and they have like what’s more popular, slideshows, calendars and the attractions of Miami Beach. We can use this as a model because it gives us ideas of what we could write about or what can we do to have people read our school news. It also gives us an idea that we could put pictures adds and promotions. The section about movies could interest the students because they might want to know if the movie was good or not or more about music. There could also be news that they want to be updated on or something they might want to know.

The New Times web site is very eye catching and promising. They have a lot of different sections and the top news storys are always availible. They do not only use a lot of color and a good set-up, they even have a search engine and a calendar where you can always check your date. I hope we could do our web-site the same way because when I went to the New Times web-site it looked promising and good. Our site has to appeal to the readers and we have to have a good setup. You can even check the weather which is very accurate and most of the time correct. They also have a movie and adds page where you could find jobs or anything like that or you can go check which movies are currently playing. If we can create are website like theirs, I know were going to have a lot of sucess.

The Miami new times website it’s pretty easy to find whatever you’re looking for. The new times hasa good set up, everything title and there are even some scroll boxes to help you find what you are specifically looking for. I think the scroll box idea is a great thing for our website becasude ti takes up less space. doesn’t take up so much room on the front page. everything is in its own box or category and in that category everything gets a little more specific
